BLOOMSBURG – Mansfield struggled to get much going offensively, dropping both ends of a twinbill in the Mountaineers' PSAC Central opener at Bloomsburg on Saturday.
Â
Arianna Young allowed just one run in the opener, but it was all the Huskies needed to earn a 1-0 win. Bloomsburg (9-11, 2-0 PSAC Central) won the nightcap 14-0 in five innings as starting pitcher Mallory Tomaschik tossed a no-hitter.
Â
Young scattered seven hits and struck out a batter in 6.0 innings in the circle. The sophomore pitched 4.2 shutout innings before allowing the eventual game-winning run. It was just her third loss of the season in 11 appearances.
Â
Julia Knight drove in the lone run of the game for the Huskies in the bottom of the fifth.
Â
Taylor Parker allowed four hits and struck out six in the winning effort.
Â
In game two, Tomaschik spun a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and just one walk allowed. She was backed up by a strong offensive effort by the Huskies, plating 14 runs on nine hits.
Â
Sierra Storm took the loss for Mansfield.
