MANSFIELD –
Larissa Motts scored two of Mansfield's four second-half goals to upset No. 5 Slippery Rock 4-0 Tuesday evening in PSAC action at Karl Van Norman Field.

It marks the second win over a nationally ranked opponent for Mansfield (5-5, 1-2 PSAC) this season after defeating No. 7 Bloomsburg 1-0 in overtime on Sept. 20.

"Today's win came from a total team effort," said head coach
Brittany Hansrote. "We made the adjustments we needed at halftime and worked as a unit in the second half."

The Mountaineers were held without a shot in the first half while Slippery Rock (8-4, 3-1 PSAC) totaled eight with four on goal.

The second half was a completely different story for the Mounties who got off three early shots before
Abbie Predmore was denied a goal scoring opportunity by a great play from The Rock's Liz Wolfe.

Minutes later,
Meghan Griffin placed a perfect pass to the backside of the goal where
Larissa Motts tipped the ball in for her sixth goal of the season. The Mountaineer offense did not relent as one minute later
Mikaila Chakon took an
Emily Sadowski pass and beat the keeper to give Mansfield a 2-0 lead.

In the 64
th minute,
Katie Lipski converted a penalty stroke for her second goal before Motts capped the scoring in the 65
th minute with the assist credited to
Amber Prince. It was the second on the year for Lipski and the seventh for Motts.

Mansfield outshot The Rock 18-7 in the second half and 18-15 in the game. The Mounties also held a 7-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Mansfield keeper
Brittany Ryan made eight saves to earn her fifth win and fourth shutout in goal.

Chelsea Tanco recorded a game-high six shots win one on goal. Motts and Lipski totaled three shots each.

The loss snaps a four-game win streak and is the first PSAC loss for Slippery Rock.

Mansfield's four goals are the most since a 4-3 overtime victory over Seton Hill during the 2014 season. The five wins are the most since the 2013 season.

With 15 goals on the season, the Mounties have already surpassed their 14 from the entire 2016 season.

Mansfield leads the PSAC in saves per game (9.90) and is second in goals allowed (1.18).

The Mountaineers travel to West Chester on Saturday then play a neutral site game against Newberry on Sunday in Kutztown, Pa.
