KUTZTOWN –
Dana Evans scored a late goal, but Mansfield came up just short in a 2-1 loss at Kutztown on Tuesday night in PSAC play.

It was a battle of two Mansfield field hockey alums featuring Mountaineer head coach Brittany (Kostishion) Hansrote '09 and Kutztown head coach Marci (Lippert) Schueing '05. Hansrote served as an assistant coach under Schueing at both Bryn Mawr College and Kutztown.

Kutztown (9-6, 4-4 PSAC) wasted no time getting on the board with Madison Stewart's goal in the second minute. Stewart helped make it 2-0 in the Golden Bears favor by assisting on Kyra Wozniak's goal in the 21
st minute. The lead would stand until halftime.

Abbie Predmore tried to cut the lead in half with her shot in the 45
th minute, but a KU defensive save maintained the two-goal advantage.

With just over two minutes remaining in the game,
Mikaila Chakon found Evans who finished in goal to cut the deficit to 2-1. It was the sophomore's first goal of her career.

The comeback effort ran out of time as Kutztown held on for the victory.

Mansfield (6-9, 1-6 PSAC) held a 7-6 shots on goal advantage and 8-5 edge on corners.
