MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University sprint football team travels to Caldwell University on Saturday, Oct. 14 for the first meeting between the two programs.
 
Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. in West Caldwell, N.J.
 
The Mountaineers are coming off a 30-18 loss to Chestnut Hill College last week that capped a three-game home stand for MU. Mansfield was first to get on the board with Adam Hutchison's 59-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Bagwell on the Mounties' first drive, but Chestnut Hill followed with 21 unanswered points.
 
Josh Friebis, who ranks second in the CSFL in total tackles with 39, led the Mountaineer defense in tackles for the second time this season with 12. Dylan Flexer recorded a pair of sacks for the third straight game against Chestnut Hill and currently leads the league with 6.0. Flexer also tops the CSFL in tackles for loss with 9.0 this season.
 
D.J. McLean continues to pace the league in receiving, ranking first in receptions per game at 6.8 and receiving yards a game at 89.2. McLean is also sixth in the CSFL in all-purpose yards at 112.8 a game.
 
Caldwell is coming off its first win in program history two weeks ago with a 28-19 victory at Post University. The Cougars lead the CSFL in rushing offense, averaging 213.3 yards a game with their Wing-T style attack. Caldwell utilizes four running backs who are averaging 40+ yards a game led by Zavion Stevens at 74.0.
 
The Mountaineers return to Karl Van Norman Field next week to host Army West Point for Senior Day.
