Mounties Edged 1-0 at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK – Andrea Felix scored off a header 16 seconds into the second half and Slippery Rock held on to beat Mansfield 1-0 in a PSAC women's soccer game Saturday afternoon.

Danielle Lentz had two shots on goal for Mansfield in a scoreless first half.

Slippery Rock got a breakaway goal to start the second half with Lynn Neef crossing the ball into Felix who headed it past the goalie.

Mansfield answered right back when Lentz put another shot on goal two minutes later that was stopped by SRU goalie Kylie Downs.

Mansfield came close to tying the game in the final five minutes but shots on goal by Delaney Meadows and Emily Smith were both turned away.

Mansfield had six shots on goal to Slippery Rock's seven in the hard-fought game with Rachel Fox recording six saves for the Mountaineers.

Mansfield travels to Seton Hill on Friday.
