MANSFIELD – Sophomore Ryan Clifford and freshman Nicole Weisser led Mansfield cross country in the season-opening Flatlander Invitational Friday evening at Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course.
 
Weisser led the Mountaineer women and finished sixth overall in the 3K race with her time of 11:16. Allison McCurry turned in a time of 11:32 and Kenzie Jones came in at 11:45 to round out Mansfield's top three.
 
Clifford was seventh in the field to lead the men's team in the 4K with his time of 12:49. Quashaun Jaquay Willis was right behind Clifford at 12:51 to take eighth. Baily Lutz was 11^th at 13:40 to complete the top three for Mansfield.
 
The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 17 for Rochester's Yellow Jacket Invitational.
