Mounties Lose Heartbreaker in OT at Seton Hill
GREENSBURG – Freshman
Larissa Motts tied the game, scoring her first collegiate goal in the second half but Seton Hill snuck out a win in overtime on a goal by Wynnsome Gadson for a 2-1 victory over Mansfield in a PSAC field hockey matchup Saturday afternoon in Greensburg.
In a hard-played game, Seton Hill drew first blood on an unassisted goal by Nicole Susi in the 21st minute.
Mansfield came on strongly offensively in the second half, getting off seven shots to Seton Hill's fivee and taking eight corners to Seton Hill's two.
The Mountaineers almost pulled it out in the final minute of overtime getting off shots by
Meghan Griffin and
Katie Lipski before time expired.
Mansfield had one chance in overtime coming just under two minutes into the extra period but Motts shot went wide.
Seton Hill countered with an offensive flurry with Mansfield goalie
Laura Lawson turning back two shots a minute before the winning goal went in.
Lotts and
Christie Buyer each had two shots on goal for Mansfield while Lawson turned back six shots.
Mansfield host IUP this Wednesday.
