The Mansfield University softball team ended its season with a pair of tough losses at IUP Saturday afternoon.

IUP scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 7-1 win in the opener and held on for a 2-1 win in game two to sweep the regular season ending divisional doubleheader.

In the opener, Mansfield drew first blood when Koryn Wickwire doubled down the right field line with one out in the top of the first. Rachael Sterner drew a walk followed by a double by Megan Miller driving in Wickwire and moving Sterner to third but Mansfield couldn't push across a second run.

That lead held until the bottom of the third when IUP's Mackenna Miller led off with a single, then stole second and third before scoring on a sacrifice bunt to knot the score at 1-1.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the sixth when IUP scored six runs off four hits and an error to put the game out of reach.

Mansfield had four hits to IUP's six in the game with Laura Lawson going 2-2 for the Mountaineers. Ashley Inman pitched magnificently for the first five inning and was charged with the loss.

Lauren Zola went the distance to pick up the win for IUP.

In the nightcap, Mansfield again jumped out in front early with a run in the top of the first on an RBI by Megan Miller.

IUP responded with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the second, the first coming off a triple by Lauren Goetz.

Neither team would score again but Mansfield had a chance to tie the game in the seventh. With two outs, Casey Pearce walked followed by a Laura Lawson single to left to put runners at first and second before the threat ended with a game-ending fly out.

Freshman Ari Young had a strong outing in the circle for Mansfield along just two runs while throwing a complete game.

Brooke Darling picked up the win for IUP scattering four hits and striking out nine in picking up her 12^th win of the season.

Mansfield finished the season with a 15-22 overall record and tied for fourth with Pitt-Johnstown in the PSAC Central.
