FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Dominate Shaw by a Combined 25-0 to Conclude Raleigh Trip

RALEIGH, NC – Rachael Sterner belted her fifth home run of the season and drove in seven runs to lead Mansfield to a sweep over Shaw in Raleigh, NC on Wednesday afternoon.

Mansfield won the opener 11-0 on a combined one-hitter by Ashley Inman and Brooke Roys before taking the nightcap 14-0 behind Sierra Storm and Ari Young.

In the opener, Mansfield jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning as Rachael Sterner launched a two-run home run to score Melanie Taylor who walked to leadoff the game two batters earlier. Megan Miller and Ashley Inman both reached on errors before the Mounties eventually popped out to end the top of the inning.

Brooke Roys singled to center to start the second inning before advancing to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Casey Pearce. Melanie Taylor then reached on an error by Bears shortstop Britt Kline. A single by Amanda Goodwin knocked Roys home to extend the lead to 3-0. After a Sterner walk, the bases were loaded for Hannah Secord who hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Taylor. Goodwin scored on a double by Kayla Hahn and Sterner later scored the fourth run of the inning thanks to a single by Ashley Inman to left field.

After a pair of hitless innings from Ashley Inman, the Mounties held a 6-0 lead heading into the top of the third. Pearce walked and Taylor reached on a fielder's choice to start the inning.
