FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kash Hits Three Home Runs and Pepper One-Hits Post in Split

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. –
Zephan Kash was a machine, going 6-6 at the plate with three home runs and eight RBIs to lead Mansfield offensively in a split with Post on Sunday at Shepherd Stadium.

Chase Pepper spun a one-hitter in the opener as the Mountaineers cruised to a 10-0 win before Post used early runs to win game two 10-6.

Pepper was perfect through the first 3.2 innings before giving up a walk and allowed his only hit of the game late in the sixth inning. The sophomore struck out six batters and walked just two in 6.0 innings of work.

Mansfield scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth on Kash's solo shot over the right field fence. The Mountaineers added another run in the fifth on a

Owen Lukens who led-off the inning with a single up the middle.

Scott Rockwell opened the top of the seventh with a single before Kash hammered his second homer of the game to right field.
Ryan Paige followed with a one-out single and was brought home on
Tanner Klein's two-run shot. With bases loaded, Rockwell singled to right field to score a pair of runs before Kash doubled to left field to bring in two more to cap an eight-run inning.

Brandon Garrett closed the door in the bottom of seventh pitching a perfect inning with a strike out.

The Mountaineers pounded out 10 runs on 13 hits in the win.

Post opened the nightcap with a lead-off triple and pushed the runner across in the next at bat to take an early lead. The Eagles added four more runs in the second inning on four hits with Mansfield committing two errors. Post pushed across three more runs on three hits in the third to extend its lead to 8-0.

Kash put Mansfield on the board in the bottom of the inning with another two-run homer for his third round-tripper of the day to cut the Post lead to 8-2.

The Eagles added another run in the fourth, but Mansfield countered with four runs in the bottom of the frame. Hillson drove in a pair of runs with a two-out double off the wall in left field. Kash drove in another run and Rockwell scored on a wild pitch to bring Mansfield's deficit to three runs at 9-6.

Post scored its 10
th run of the game on an error in the seventh inning.
Â
Tyler Kovalwich earned the win in relief for Post, throwing 3.1 innings while allowing three hits and an earned run.
Billy Rummings took the loss for Mansfield.

Kash had a monster weekend and is batting .700 through three games with nine RBIs, five runs scored and three walks. The senior recorded six extra base hits including a PSAC-best four home runs. Kash also leads the conference in slugging percentage at an incredible 2.100.

The Mountaineers travel to the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C. for a pair of doubleheaders next weekend.
