FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Fight Tough, but Fall to #7 Bloomsburg 4-0
MANSFIELD –
Laura Lawson made 19 saves as the Mounties fought hard, but No. 7 Bloomsburg came away with the 4-0 victory Saturday at Karl Van Norman Field in the nightcap of Mansfield's Homecoming.
Solid defense from Mansfield kept the Huskies off the board until the 18
th minute when Whitney Kowski dribbled in and put her team ahead 1-0.
The Mountaineers countered with a flurry of corners and shots but were unable to push across a goal.
Bloomsburg notched its second goal of the game in the 30
th minute with a score from Sam Peters. In the second half, Bloomsburg scored two more goals to hold a 4-0 advantage.
Avery Yoder and
Abbie Predmore each recorded defensive saves in the game for Mansfield to prevent scores. Lawson totaled her second highest save total of the season with 19.
Emily Willard led the Mountaineer scoring with three shots while
Katie Lipski and
Abbie Predmore each totaled two shots apiece.
Mansfield hosts Slippery Rock on Tuesday.
