Mounties Fall to Seton Hill in 3-2 Battle

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Fall to Seton Hill in 3-2 Battle

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Colleen Dempsey scored a game-tying goal in the 67th minute despite Mansfield playing a man down, but Seton Hill capitalized on a late free kick to win 3-2 Saturday afternoon in PSAC women's soccer action.

Mansfield got on the board quickly when freshman Sara Pierce scored her first goal of the season on a Bri Carr corner kick in the 7th minute.

In the 23rd minute, Seton Hill equalized when Andrea Wisniewski took an Alex McIntosh pass and placed it in goal.

The 1-1 tie would hold until halftime.

A red card issued in the 58th minute forced the Mountaineers to play down a man for the remainder of the game. Seton Hill capitalized on its advantage with Breanna Novosel scoring the go-ahead goal just two minutes later.

The Mountaineers wouldn't go away quietly though, as Dempsey found the back of goal in the 65th minute to tie the game at 2-2. It was the redshirt senior's first goal of her career.

Seton Hill scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 81st minute when Megan Warman put a free kick just out side the box past the keeper following a questionable foul call.

Mansfield continues its four-game road trip on Oct. 3 when it travels to IUP.
