FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Scordino Sets School Record in Mile to Lead Mounties at Kane Invite
 
ITHACA, N.Y. – Jess Scordino set a school record in the mile run and hit an NCAA provisional mark to highlight Mountaineer track and field's Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell.

Scordino finished third overall and was the highest Division II finisher with a program record time of 5:04.94. Scordino bested the previous record of 5:06.59 set by teammate Savannah Boucher last season.
 
Both the men's and women's 4x800 teams came away with top finishes. The women's team of Lauren Norton, Jess Scordino, Kristy Scordino and Melanie Hilliard placed first in a field of eight teams with a 9:57.19. Mike Robinson, Jacob Portock, Joelsen Resimo and Benjamin Drexler led the men's side with a winning time of 7:58.30.
 
The women's 4x400 team of Melissa Cruz, Allison Macon, Melanie Hartley and Michaela Lambert was edged St. Rose for a second place finish at 4:04.91.
 
Cruz was second in the women's 500m with a freshman record time of 1:20.15
 
Jenna Hoefer qualified for PSACs in the weight throw with a toss of 40' 1.5". The senior's distance was good for an eighth place result.
 
Junior Jesse Jones hit a conference qualifying time in the 5,000m at 15:36.13 to finish fifth overall.
 
Mansfield is back in action on Feb. 7 for the New Balance Invitational in New York City.
