Jones Leads Mountie Men to 12th Place Finish at PSAC Championships

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jones Leads Mountie Men to 12th Place Finish at PSAC Championships

MANSFIELD - Jesse Jones led the Mountaineer men to a 12th place team finish Saturday morning at the PSAC Cross Country Championships at Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course in Mansfield.

It marked the first time that Mansfield has hosted the PSAC Championships since 1977. Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course played host to the ECAC Championships two weeks ago and the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships back in 2009.

Jones registered a time of 25.56.3 to lead the Mountaineer men with a 33rd place finish overall. Jones was just three spots away from picking up All-PSAC accolades.

Shakim Blackwell was the next finisher for Mansfield with a time of 27:05.3. Quashaun Willis and Carson Ayers finished 88th and 89th respectively at 27:53 followed by Den Drexler at 94th with a time 29:33.2 for 117th.

Jordan Boothe was 123rd at 29:56.8 followed by Brandon Emmett who finished 125th at 30:37.4.

Lock Haven won its second straight PSAC title, scoring just 38 points with all seven runners in the top 20. California's Aaron Dinzeo won the individual title with a time of 24:18.7.

The Mountaineers will gear up for the NCAA Atlantic Regionals on Nov. 22 hosted by Slippery Rock.
