FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Upset-Minded Mounties Give #3 Shippensburg All It Can Handle

MANSFIELD – Katelyn Grazen scored in the final minutes of the game as No. 3 ranked and defending national champion Shippensburg escaped with a 2-1 win over upset-minded Mansfield Saturday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.

Shippensburg struck first when Lauren Zegulis came off the bench and put an Emily Barnard pass into goal in the 16^th minute. Prior to the goal, Mansfield's Katie Lipski denied back-to-back sure goals by the Raiders for two incredible defensive saves.

The Shippensburg lead would stand into halftime.

Jessi Swingle recorded the game-tying goal in the 51^st minute with a hard shot from the top of the circle. The goal came off an Emily Willard penalty corner pass. It was Swingle's team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Grazen scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 65^th minute.

NCAA saves leader Laura Lawson was stellar in goal, making 21 saves in the contest.

The Raiders held a 44-11 shot advantage in the game. Six of the Mountaineers' 11 shots went on goal in the game.

Swingle and Chelsea Tanco each put a pair of shots on goal while Brianna Hathaway and Lacey Croasdale each added one shot on goal.

The Mountaineers travel to IUP on Wednesday.
