FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Fall at No. 21 Slippery Rock
SLIPPERY ROCK – The Mountaineers held No. 21 Slippery Rock scoreless for the first 60 minutes of the game before The Rock recorded four late goals against an injury-depleted Mansfield squad to earn a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon at James Egli Field.
With just four substitutes, the Mountaineers held-off the nationally ranked program as keeper Alana Krieger denied The Rock's first nine shots on goal.
Slippery Rock's Andrea Felix broke the scoreless tie in the 60
th minute, heading an Ali Brosky corner kick into goal. Dara Demich scored the second goal of the game with a successful penalty kick attempt in the 78
th minute before adding another goal in the 85
th minute.
Cailin Conner scored the final goal in the 88
th minute.
Jessica Allen recorded a shot on goal late in the game while
Kelsey Chapman was credited with a shot as well.
The Mountaineers continue their four-game road trip by traveling to Edinboro on Saturday, Oct. 26.
