Mounties Give 1st Place Kutztown All it can Handle in PSAC Women's Soccer
MANSFIELD – An injury-depleted Mansfield squad gave 1st place Kutztown all it could handle before falling 1-0 in a PSAC women's soccer game Saturday afternoon.
The short-handed Mountaineers hung with the Golden Bears in the first half, with the MU defense stepping up to hold KU just a goal by Katie Miller off a Rubi Mink assist on a corner in the 30th minute.
While Kutztown had a big shot advantage in the first 45 minutes, the second half was an evenly matched contest.
Mansfield had a couple of scoring opportunities late in the game with a
Lauren Boess shot in the 71st minute stopped by the Kutztown goalie followed by a shot from
Kelsey Fish that went wide right.
Alana Krieger went the distance in goal for Mansfield stopping eight shots while Alina Rakiewicz was credited with a shutout for Kutztown with three saves.
Mansfield travels to California on Wednesday.
