Scordino Sisters Lead Mansfield to 1-2-3 Finish in Flatland Invitational

MANSFIELD – Jess Scordino finished first overall with teammates Kristy Scordino and Savannah Boucher taking second and third respectively at the season-opening Flatland Invitational Saturday on the Lamb's Creek course.

"I thought both teams ran well," said head coach Mike Rohl. "Especially for the first time out this season."

Sophomore Jesse Jones led the men's efforts with a third place showing.

Jess Scordino finished a little more that than 20 seconds in front of her twin sister over the 4000 meter course with a winning time of 14:02.14. Kristy was second at 14:23.60 while newcomer Savannah Boucher was third with a 14:31.15 showing.

Sophomore Amy Lee took 12th overall (16:02.24) with senior Kristin Von Bevern finishing 14th and sophomore Rachael Tylock 19th (16:27.04).
Jones finished just a little more than five seconds behind winner Erich Leiden of Penn State winning time of 12:32.44. Jones covered the 4000 meter course in a time of 12:37.38.

Junior Will Mullen was the Mountaineers next highest scorer coming in 8th overall with a time of 13:18.04. Senior Alex Beard was 10th (13:20.25) with teammate Jordan Booth steps behind at 13:23.82. Sophomore Erich Sherer finished 16th (13:45.10) with sophomore Jacob Portock taking 18th (13:51.08).

Mansfield travels to the Lock Haven Invitational on Sept. 22.
