FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield downs Shepherd 1-0 behind Moyer's goal and Wilhelm's shutout

MANSFIELD – Erika Moyer scored a goal eight minutes into the game and Alexis Wilhelm made it stand up with shutout play in goal as Mansfield edged Shepherd 1-0 in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon.

Moyer played a deflection off the goalie10-yards out and put it low into the left side of the corner giving Mansfield all the scoring it would need on the afternoon.

Mansfield held a 27-6 shot advantage and took seven corner kicks to Shepherd's zero. Jessica Allen had three shots on goal for the Mountaineers as did Karyn Anselmo.

Alexis Wilhelm turned away three shots on goal to record her first shutout of the season and fifth of her career.

The win snaps a snaps a six-game losing streak to improve to 2-6-1 overall.

The Mountaineers host Shippensburg on Oct. 3.
