WEST CHESTER – Four different Golden Rams recorded goals as No. 12 West Chester defeated Mansfield 4-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer action Friday afternoon.
West Chester (5-0, 2-0 PSAC) struck early when junior Marie D'Angelo found the back of the net via an assist from senior Diana Rowan to lead 1-0 in the sixth minute. Mansfield (1-2-1, 0-1-1 PSAC) held strong, refusing to allow another goal to the nationally ranked program for the remainder of the half.
In the second half, the Rams recorded their second goal of the contest in the 54
th minute before adding two more in the 65
th and 67
th minutes.
Senior
Alexis Wilhelm made 10 saves for the Mountaineers, playing all 90 minutes in goal. Junior
Jessica Kerwin led Mansfield offensively, recording two shots on goal.
D'Angelo finished the game with a goal and two assists for the Rams.
West Chester held a 16-5 shot advantage with 14 of the 16 shots being on goal.
The Mountaineers travel to Millersville on Saturday, Sept. 15 for the second leg of their weekend road trip. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
