FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield falls to No. 3 California 3-0 in women's soccer

LOCK HAVEN – Mansfield's Alexis Wilhelm and Alana Krieger combined for 16 saves but it would be enough as Mansfield dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 3-ranked California (PA) in a PSAC women's soccer match Friday afternoon in Lock Haven.

Cal got on the scoreboard on a goal by Breeanna Robinson off an assist from Chelsea Crockett a little over six minutes into the game. But the Mansfield defensive stiffened after the Mountaineers Leah Fuerst shot on goal was blocked and it looked as if Mansfield would go into halftime trailing just 1-0.

But Cal scored with just two minutes left in the half when Kelsey Russo lifted a 35-yard boot over the goalies head and into the net.

Cal got the game's final goal in the 58th minute when Chelsea Crockett scored from five-yards out.

Wilhelm had 12 saves in 70 minutes of play with Krieger picking up four saves over the final 20 minutes of the game.

California improves to 8-0-2, 6-0-2 in PSAC play, on the season while Mansfield falls to 1-8 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

Mansfield will take on Shippensburg Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lock Haven.
