MANSFIELD – Bud Plaszenski ran a 25:50.40 to take the win during the Mountaineer Flatland Invitational held at Lambs Creek Recreation Area Course beating the competition by over half a minute.
“Bud did an excellent job and he was excited to be running in front of friends and family and he took advantage of it with a convincing win,” men's head coach

Chris Cummings also took part in the invitational as an unattached runner taking 29
th place with a time 29:11.76.
The men took third place overall in the team finals.
The Mountie women runners won first place as a team beating out Bloomsburg University by one point. In an ealier taping of Sports Talk (a sports talk show featuring Terry Day as he interviews coaches, athletes and staff) Kaitlin Chegwidden was noted saying how the women are “pack” runners this year. Becky Kratz made the pack statement true as they finished fifth, sixth and seventh.
Jess Scordino finished with a time of 19:47.59 while her sister Kristy finished with a time of 19:57.78 and Kratz finishing with a time of 20:04.18.
“This is the fourth time we've had a different finishing order and any one of those athletes could be our number one runner or our fourth,” Rohl said, “One of these days they're all going to cross the line together.”

Alycia Woodruff of Susquehanna University took first place for the women and Bobby Furman of Bloomsburg University finished second overall on the men's side.
The invitational was ran by Mansfield University track and field members. “This is only our second year holding a cross country meet at home and the track athletes did a great job working it even though some of them have never been to a cross country meet before,” Coach
Steph Cadwell said. “Without them it would be impossible to run this meet.”
“Thanks to Coach Cadwell and all of the track and field athletes who spent the entire day doing the logistics and working the meet,” Rohl said. “They allowed me to be a coach.”
The Mountie runners travel to Salisbury University on Saturday, October 2 for the Don Cathcart Invitational.
