MU women's soccer drops PSAC opener to Gannon 4-1

MANSFIELD –
Kariann Breed scored her first goal of the season for Mansfield but it wasn't be enough to overcome a hat-trick by Gannon's Amanda Sharbaugh as the Mountaineers dropped a 4-1 decision in the PSAC opener for both schools Friday afternoon.
Sarabaugh scored her first goal in the 13th minute of the game before Tenyka Francique gave Gannon a 2-0 halftime lead 10 minutes later.
Sarabaugh scored one minute into the second half off a corner kick to extend the lead to 3-0 before Breed scored by going to the bottom right on a penalty kick while the goalie guessed left.
Sharbaugh scored the game's final goal in the 75th minute.
Gannon (2-0-1, 1-0 PSAC) held a 21-11 shot advantage.
Alexis Wilhelm stopped four shots in goal for Mansfield before being relieved by
Samantha Deliere who was credited with three saves. Sabrina Chirco had three saves for Gannon.
Mansfield falls to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in PSAC East play. The Mountaineers host Mercyhurst in a PSAC game Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
