MANSFIELD – Mansfield University head sprint football coach Dan Davis has announced his coaching staff for the upcoming 2010 season.

“We have a nice combination of returning coaches and experienced newcomers,” said Davis who enters his third season at the helm of the Mountaineer program. “We have coaches who have been with us from the beginning and some new additions that bring a wealth of experience to the staff. I'm looking forward to the start of the season.”

The newcomers include veteran coaches Ken Hussey and Graham Johnsen.

Hussey has coached at the high school, collegiate and professional levels for 30 years including, stints with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL along with the Toronto Argos and Ottawa Rough Riders of the CFL. He has also served as the defensive coordinator at Guelph University and Waterloo University in Canada. Hussey was a three-time All-Conference selection as a defensive tackle at the University of Toronto in the mid-1970s. Hussey's responsibilities will include the linebackers and secondary at Mansfield.

Graham Johnsen is making his second trip to Mansfield as an assistant coach. Johnsen, who served as the wide receivers coach at Mansfield in helping the Mountaineers to an 8-3 mark in 2003 under then head coach Chris Woods, has extensive experience with NCAA Division I, II, and III programs. Johnsen was a punter for the University of Southern Mississippi before graduating in 1998 and went on to serve as a graduate-assistant coach at the University of Tennessee.

Johnsen was an assistant coach and passing game coordinator at Saint Francis University after leaving Mansfield where he also served as head JV coach. He also has had stints at Mississippi Gulf Coast, Fairfield University, Nicholls State and Wittenberg University.

Johnsen will serve as passing game and special team's coordinator as well as work with the wide receivers and quarterbacks at Mansfield.

Returning to the staff for 2010 are Greig Spuhler, Chris Lampart and Ronnie Montgomery.

Spuhler will move up to defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coordinator after serving as linebackers coach for the past two seasons. Lampart will work with the running backs and wide receivers while Montgomery is in his second season overseeing the secondary.

Head coach Dan Davis will also serve as the offensive coordinator and work with the offensive line.

Mansfield, which posted a 2-5 overall record in its first full season in the CSFL last year, opens the 2010 season when the Mountaineers host Cornell University on Sept. 18.
