WILLIAMSPORT – The Slippery Rock offense kept the Mansfield defense on its heels with a 4-0 win at the Balls Mills Complex in Williamsport.
The game was moved to the Balls Mills artificial field after three days of steady rain made Mansfield's natural grass field unplayable.
Slippery Rock University's Shelby Ward had a perfect shot percentage as both of her shots turned into goals late in the first half in the 31st minute and 33rd minute. Her second goal came from an assist from teammate, Steph Buckenheimer.
Kara Mullins added another goal off an assist by Toni DiRenzo two minutes later.
Alison Hindley finished out the scoring for Slippery Rock in the 76th minute of play with a header off an assist by Rachel Knapp on a corner kick.
Slippery Rock recorded 17 shots to Mansfield's three shots. Mansfield got two shots on goal from Erika Moyer and one shot on goal from Amanda Quinn.
Samantha Deliere had four saves in the first half while Alexis Wilhelm had another four in the second half. Slipper Rock's goalie Alli Bird had three saves in goal playing a total of 73 minutes.
Mansfield falls to an overall 1-8-1 and Slippery Rock improves to 7-3-1.
Mansfield travels to Lock Haven University Saturday, October 9 for a 1 pm game.
