MANSFIELD – Mansfield dropped both ends of a senior day doubleheader against division-leading West Chester Saturday afternoon at Shaute Field.

West Chester (30-7, 20-4 PSAC East) took game one 9-3 before completing the PSAC East sweep with a 4-1 win in game two.

The Golden Rams got on the board with a run in the top of the second, but Mansfield (20-26, 8-16 PSAC East) answered in the bottom of the frame with a
Brady Mengel RBI single to score
Dio Infante.

The game would not be tied for long as West Chester scored another run in the third to regain the lead at 2-1. Again, Mansfield would respond in the bottom of the inning. First with Pena singling then later scoring on a wild pitch before Chavarria plated Infante with a single to center field to give the Mounties a 3-2 advantage.

The Rams went back on top with two runs in the fourth inning then added another in the fifth. West Chester hung four runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Mike Cipolla pitched 6.0 innings in the winning effort.

In game two, West Chester took advantage of Mountaineer errors in the third inning to plate a pair of unearned runs.

Mansfield got one back in the fifth with Chavarria's RBI single to score Huyett and cut its deficit to one run.

A two-run homer by Shane Dressler in the top of the seventh extended the Rams' lead to 4-2.

Andrew Gernert improved to 4-0 with 5.0 innings of work in the win.

Mansfield hosts East Stroudsburg on Friday for the home finale at Shaute Field.
