MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University men's and women's track & field programs are taking part in Operation Christmas Child this holiday season.
Â
Operation Christmas Child is a program in which each student-athlete selects a boy or girl and fills a shoebox full of gifts to send to the child for the holiday season. The box also contains a photo of the student-athlete making the gift and a personal note. Once the box is registered, the athlete can track where the box is delivered.
Â
The track & field program teamed up with Liberty Church and Samaritan's Purse to send gifts to children around the world.
Â
GiveBackMU is a month long focus on how the Mansfield University Department of Athletics and its student-athletes support the local community with charitable acts and volunteerism. The culmination of the GiveBackMU campaign is on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when Mansfield holds a special Day of Giving in association with the global Giving Tuesday movement.
Â
Alumni, supporters, and friends of Mountaineer Athletics are kindly asked to make a gift on the Nov. 28 Day of Giving to help provide opportunities for Mansfield student-athletes and further the mission of the university. 100% of gifts given through Mansfield's secure online portal are tax deductible.
