MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University Foundation and the Mountaineer men's basketball program have combined to establish the Glenn Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

“The Glenn Jackson Memorial Scholarship is a collaborative effort between the Mansfield University Foundation, Mountaineer men's basketball, the Jackson family and his teammates to honor the life of a great player and friend,” said head coach Rich Miller. 

“To everyone who played with him or knew him, Glenn defined the Mountie Spirit,” explained Miller. “It was never about Glenn, it was always about the team. He derived more satisfaction from the success of his teammates and the program then he did about his own success.”

Jackson passed away unexpectedly on May 30 while working for Argosy University in Irving, TX. He was just 30 years old.

Jackson was a member of the MU men's basketball program 2001-04 where he earned a reputation as an outstanding team player who worked unselfishly to make his teammates better players. He was well respected by opponents, teammates and coaches, earning team Most Valuable Player recognition as a sophomore during the 2001-02 season despite ranking just ninth on the team in scoring.

During his senior season in 2004, Mansfield posted a 21-7 overall record and appeared in the national Top 25 rankings while earning a PSAC playoff berth.
“Ever since Glenn passed away people have ask me what they could do to honor his life,” said Miller. “Through the support of the Mansfield University Foundation, we have the opportunity to continue to make Glenn's named associated with Mountaineer basketball and to help attract players to the program – that's something I know he would have liked.”
