Mansfield's Joe Bell named PSAC East Freshman of the Year – Also named to 2nd Team All-PSAC East honors
MANSIFELD – Mansfield University rookie sensation
Joe Bell (Pottsgrove/Pottstown) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Freshman of the Year in voting conducted among the head PSAC East coaches and released by the PSAC office today.
He was also selected to All-PSAC 2nd Team honors.
Bell, who was named PSAC East Freshman of the Week eight times this season, had a remarkable season leading the team in scoring and ranking eighth in the PSAC in scoring averaging 16.3 points per game. The most accurate shooter in the conference, Bell led the PSAC in shooting percentage hitting 57.0% of his shots. He also ranked 12th in the conference in rebounding (6.9 rgp).
Bell, who becomes the second Mountaineer to earn PSAC East Freshman of the Year in the past four years after
Tony Fannick earned the honor in 2009, scored the second-most points in a season as a freshman in school history with 424 points on the year.
Bell scored in double-figures in 23-0f-26 games this season including the 17 in a row.
He is one of just 12 players selected to All-PSAC post season honors.
