Mike Rohl announced that seniors
Kait Chegwidden and
Mike Robinson will serve as team captains for the 2012 cross country season.
Chegwidden, a four-year member of the Mountaineer women's cross country team, will look to continue the success of Mansfield's record-setting 2011 season. She was a key member of last year's team that placed 5
th overall at the PSAC Championships and 6
th at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals en route to earning the program's first national ranking.
One of Mansfield's top returning athletes, Robinson was named Most Improved player for the 2011 season. In an act of selflessness, Robinson volunteered to forgo training with his own team to be All-American
Brenae Edwards' training partner. Edwards went on to finish 8
th overall at the 2011 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships.
The Mountaineer men and women open the 2012 season by hosting the Flatland Invitational at the Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course in Mansfield on September 7.
