Mountaineer 800 Relay Team Secured Win Over Chatham University

CALIFORNIA, PA – The 800 yard freestyle relay team scored big to secure a victory over Chatham University 208-176 as the Mountaineer swim team finished up at the California University of Pennsylvania's Vulcan Invite Saturday afternoon.
The team of
Christine Gillies,
Lindsey Gregg,
Amani Khabeer and
Katie McFadden placed fourth with a time of 8:59.47. Their time was just 17 seconds off of Lock Haven's third place team.
Khabeer and McFadden earned more individual top finishes again on the second day of competition. Khabeer took fifth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.15 while McFadden swam a 59.02 in the 100 yard freestyle to also finish fifth.
Khabeer also took sixth in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:28.45. McFadden took sixth in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:37.64.
Liz Stanton took sixth in the 50 yard breastroke with a time of 35.53 and Marguarite O'Connor took sixth in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:10.67.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Khabeer, Gillies, O'Connor and McFadden took sixth to finish the day up with a time of 4:05.34.
Cal won the invitational with a score of 912 and Lock Haven finished in second with a score of 689.
Mansfield heads to the Lock Haven Invitational on February 4 for the all day event.
