Gibson was a four-year starter on the football team playing his first two seasons under Coach Tom Elsasser and his junior and senior years under Joe Viadella. He started every game of his career, primarily at center where he was a three-time All-PSAC East selection earning second team honors as a sophomore and first team honors during his junior and senior campaigns. As a senior, Gibson was rated as the 6^th best center in all of collegiate football by USA Today. Twenty-two NFL teams scouted Gibson and he was the first player in school history to be invited to attend the NFL Draft. Following the draft, Gibson signed a free-agent contract with the San Diego Chargers.
