Mansfield Athletics

Michael Hrycenko was a dominating football and baseball player for Mansfield State Teachers College from 1927-31.

During the age of the 60-minute football player, Hrycenko played both offensive and defensive end for the Mounties. On the diamond, Hrycenko was a team leader in the infield and as catcher.

Although a knee injury prevented him from competing on the Mansfield basketball squad after his freshman year, Hrycenko’s leadership was felt both as a J.V basketball coach, and as an assistant to head varsity coach Kimble Marvin in his senior year.
