Mark Britsol ’00 was a 6-6, 315-pound lineman that put fear in opposing schools during his career as a Mansfield University football player. Bristol was an All-PSAC East 1st-Team Offensive Lineman in 1999 and 1998.

During his time of the offensive line, Mountaineer running back Lee Brannon shattered the program record of career rushing, scampering for 3268 yards from 1996-99. “Poohbeer” McNeal would later surpass the record in 2005.

Bristol signed with the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL) shortly after the draft in 2000. In training camp and/or as a practice squad member, Bristol worked for the Jets, Raiders, Packers, 49ers, Jaguars and Dolphins. He also played in Europe, had a tryout in Canada and, after 3 years away from the game, during which time he worked as an assistant manager for a furniture company in Florida, played for a trio of indoor pro teams (in 2007).
