Women’s Soccer Gives to Local Charities #GiveBackMU

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's soccer team and head coach Tim Dempsey presented checks to four local charities prior to the start of their final home game in October.

Each year, women's soccer donates a portion of the proceeds from their annual Tennis Ball Race to organizations that benefit the greater Mansfield community. Dempsey and his team have given over $10,000 to local charities and various cancer organizations over the past 14 years.

This year, women's soccer donated funds to the Mansfield Area United Fund, the Mansfield Free Public Library, the Mansfield Area Food Pantry, and the Tioga Country Branch YMCA.

GiveBackMU is a month long focus on how the Mansfield University Department of Athletics and its student-athletes support the local community with charitable acts and volunteerism. The culmination of the GiveBackMU campaign is on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when Mansfield holds a special Day of Giving in association with the global Giving Tuesday movement.

Alumni, supporters, and friends of Mountaineer Athletics are kindly asked to make a gift on the Nov. 28 Day of Giving to help provide opportunities for Mansfield student-athletes and further the mission of the university. 100% of gifts given through Mansfield's secure online portal are tax deductible.
