th Season in 2015 – Centennial Reunion Set for Oct. 10
MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University field hockey program will celebrate its 100
th season in 2015 highlighted by the MU Field Hockey Centennial Reunion on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Field hockey has been a part of Mansfield University athletics ever since Irene Aubrey first introduced the sport from England in 1915.
"It is extremely exciting celebrate such a significant milestone for the Mansfield University Field Hockey program this year" said current Mountaineer head field hockey coach and 2009 MU graduate
Brittany Hansrote. "The history is embedded deep within MUFH, and we would not be who we are today without all the players that have forever left a mark in our program; we are forever one team!"
The season-long celebration begins with the Mountaineer's home opener against Mercyhurst University on Sept. 15 and will continue for all seven home contests. All former Mountaineer field hockey alums and friends of the program are invited to the Oct. 10 centennial reunion celebration as part of Mansfield's LUMA festivities.
Saturday's Field Hockey Centennial Reunion kicks-off with a tailgate at Noon followed by a PSAC conference game against Mountaineer field hockey alum Marci Scheuing's '05 Kutztown Golden Bears at 2 p.m. A post-game reception will be held in the lobby of Decker Gymnasium immediately following the game.
Mountaineer field hockey's annual alumni game will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11 at Noon.
All alumni who plan to attend the Centennial Reunion are encouraged to pre-register at GoMounties.com.
