FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie Women trek to Erie for PSAC Crossover Weekend

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's basketball team will hit the road to take on Mercyhurst University and No. 8 Gannon University this Friday and Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action.

The Mountaineers are 3-6 overall with a 1-4 PSAC mark and have dropped their last four games. Mansfield is led by Junior Jena Matter who's averaging a team-high 10.7 points and 7.4 rebounds an outing. Freshman Katie Fitzpatrick is averaging 9.8 points a game while senior Julia Stevenson averages 9.2 an outing.

Mercyhurst is 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC with wins over East Stroudsburg and Lock Haven. The Lakers have dropped their last four contests including a 61-59 overtime decision against Cedarville (Ohio) on Sunday.

No. 8 Gannon is 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the PSAC with their lone loss coming against undefeated Ashland. The Knights are riding a 10-game win streak and are unbeaten on their home floor at 5-0. Gannon picked up a pair of preseason wins over Division I Kent State (70-61) and Buffalo (63-53) earlier this season.
