Nadine Faustin-Parker Receives Scholarship to Prestigious NCAA Women Coaches Academy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield's Nadine Faustin-Parker receives scholarship to prestigious NCAA Women Coaches Academy

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University women's head track and field coach Nadine Faustin-Parker has been offered and accepted a scholarship from the NCAA to attend the 2012 NCAA Women Coaches Academy this June 14-18 in Denver.

Faustin-Parker, a three-time Olympian sprinter, is in her first season as head coach of the Mountaineer program after spending the last four years as the Director of Track and Field Operations and assistant coach for the men's and women's hurdles and multi-events at the University of North Carolina.

A 1999 graduate of North Carolina, Faustin-Parker earned All-America honors at her alma mater during her undergraduate career. A three-time Olympian, Faustin-Parker represented her native Haiti in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China in the 100-meter hurdles. She also competed in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Started in 2002, the NCAA Women Coaches Academy provides skills training for coaches at all levels to assist them in being more efficient, productive, resourceful and successful. The academy is designed for women coaches who are ready and willing to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success. The participants learn skills that are not sport specific, yet ones that are relevant and necessary for coaching responsibilities, beyond the X's and O's.

Each year there are just 126 scholarships available to attend the WCA – which means, tuition, room and board are provided for those 126 female coaches employed at NCAA Universities.

With Faustin-Parker's attendance, all four Mansfield female head coaches - Edith Gallagher (softball). Ruth Hermansen (women's basketball) and Diane Monkiewicz (field hockey) - will have attended the NCAA Women Coaches Academy.
