FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Justen Johnson breaks school 400 meter record at Gator Last Chance Invitational -- Senior just misses advancing to NCAA Championship
MEADVILLE, PA - Senior
Justen Johnson won the 400 meters with a school-record time of 47.96 at the Gator Last Chance Invitational at Allegheny College.
But as impressive as Johnson's win was, including a provisionally qualifying time for the NCAA National Championship, it proved to be the final race in an extraordinary career for the senior.
Johnson had to better his personal-best time by almost a half of second to move into the top 18 times in the nation and advance to the national championship. He just missed by .10 of a second.
Johnson, who did earn a trip to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in the 400 meters earlier this year, broke his own school-record of 48.13 set earlier this season.
