Chris Boswell Named 2012 Esposito Award Winner

MANSFIELD – The Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) has announced that sports information student-assistant Chris Boswell will be honored with the prestigious Bill Esposito Memorial Award at their annual workshop in Pittsburgh this June.

Since 1995, the Esposito Award has recognized a graduating senior who wishes to pursue a career in athletic communications. The award is named in honor of Bill Esposito who served as Sports Information Director at St. John's University in New York for 25 years. Bill Esposito passed away in 1995.

A native of Athens, Pa., Boswell has been an integral part of the Mansfield sports information department over the past five years working with Director of Athletic Operations and Information Steve McCloskey. In that time, he has taken on a variety of duties including website maintenance, statistical inputting, desktop publishing and writing game recaps and feature stories.

“Over the past five years there isn't any responsibility in our sports information office that Chris hasn't done and done well” explained McCloskey. “But most of all, Chris cares about the student-athletes he covers and works tirelessly in finding ways to get them the recognition they deserve. He has also introduced a dozen or more students to sports information by actively recruiting them to join our operation. To me, Chris truly defines the spirit the Bill Esposito Award represents and we're all extremely proud of him and how far he's come in his life.”

Boswell will graduate in May with a dual major in Journalism and Broadcast.
