FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield women picked 8th and men 11th in PSAC Coaches Preseason Poll
MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's cross country team was picked to finish 8th in the 16 team Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) while the men are projected to place 11th in the 2010 PSAC Coaches Preseason Cross Country poll.
The Mountaineer women are coming off one of the best seasons in school history but will be without top runners
Brenae Edwards and
Clarissa Cummings this season. Still Mansfield has a strong corps of young runners led by sophomore
Becky Kratz along with
Kait Chegwidden and
Bethany Coons. Freshman twins
Jess Scordino and
Kristy Scordino are expected to make an immediate impact.
The Mansfield men are led by juniors
Bud Plaszenski,
Sean Vollenweider,
Kevin Cusworth and
Nate MacNabb. Head coach
Mike Rohl has been pleasantly surprised with the early performance of freshman Wesley Winter.
Mansfield opens the 2010 season at the Hamilton Short Course on Sept. 11.
